This semester, my MMM service goal was to build on my previous Chili Fest experience by taking on a more active and confident role. I wanted to step up, take more initiative, and connect more with fellow Leadership Scholars. I stayed true to this by being proactive and contributing to a positive, team-oriented environment.
This semester, I volunteered again at the Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off on the Commons. Throughout the event, I helped support vendors and keep things running smoothly by checking in to see if they needed anything, assisting with organization, and helping manage the flow of the event. Having done Chili Fest before, I felt more confident stepping into my role and taking on responsibilities. It was also a great opportunity to get to know more fellow Leadership Scholars and have a fun team bonding experience.
This experience helped me build on my previous service by becoming more comfortable in a fast-paced environment and taking more initiative. I continued to develop skills like multitasking, communication, and staying flexible, and it was really rewarding to be part of an event that brings the community together.
